To strengthen Ifakara's image as a "Centre of Excellence" in health training, research and practice in Africa; made up of the Tanzanian Training Centre for International Health (TTCIH-Ifakara), Ifakara Health Institute (IHI), and Saint Francis Designated District Hospital (SFDDH)

is to provide quality health training programs, facilities and services for continuous education in health to fast track the upgrading of allied health workers to meet the needs of primary health care facilities.

• We offer Assistant Medical Officer (AMO) training in a unique setting combined with health research and medical practice
• We provide refresher courses for clinical officers and computerized IMCI (Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses) training to name a few
• We organize short courses for sponsors and other enablers (e.g. WHO) who want to provide health training (e.g. on maternal and neonatal health) for a targeted audience
• We offer quality health training facilities and services to external course organizers
